Here’s a quick look at my life’s story that led me to Mercy Triumphs:
I grew up attending church and gave my heart to Christ while attending Vacation Bible School when I was 8 yrs old, then baptised when I was twelve. But it wasn’t until I was eighteen or so that I committed my life to Him. I knew at that point in my life that I was just a “Sunday” christian often living my life the way “I” wanted the rest of the week. I remember being at a church service one Sunday evening and singing in front of the congregation much like any other event that “The Promise” sang at, we had just finished singing at the beginning of the service and the preacher was giving the message when I thought to myself, “I’m really tired and don’t feel like being here”. My mind began to wander and I couldn’t tell you what the preacher said the evening. I began to pray silently, “Lord I’m physically tired and I’m emotionally tired of just going through the motions. I can no longer do this. I need you to help me”. At that moment my heart began to race and beat like a drum. I felt something come over me like a fresh new start and I was instantly energized. I still don’t know what the message was that evening but when we got up to sing the closing song the spirit moved among the people and they began to come to the front where they kneeled at the altar. Some were crying tears of joy, others were crying out to God to forgive them and to come into their life. I didn’t want that service to end. Since that time my life has been, as Steven Curtis Chapman would say, a great adventure. There have been many highs in my life and many challenges along the way but He has always been there. My family would have to be my favorite highs. Lori, my wife, best friend, and biggest supporter and I were married in 1987. She will always be the best earthly gift I will ever know. We have two precious children, Caleb and Becca, both are miracles with amazing and unique stories.
I have been blessed over the years with so many wonderful opportunities to sing His praises in various capacities that include: The “Promise”. a southern gospel group, where I sang lead and harmony for over 20 years at various venues across Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee. From churches to festivals/fairs to the convention center in Nashville. Besides headlining local concerts, we opened for many Southern Gospel Quartets including; The Nelons, The Dixie Melody Boys, The Greens, and many more. I had a short stint with “1200 Stadia”, a Christian rock band where I sang harmony and played keyboard. I am currently participating with the Brandywine Community Church praise band (https://www.brandywinechurch.org/), providing vocals and playing keyboard for Sunday services and outreach events. This brings us to “Mercy Triumphs”. Providing vocals and playing keyboard, “Mercy Triumphs” have played at various venues across Indiana including; churches, retreat and campground centers, local festivals and fairs, prisons, The Pixy Theater, and the “Indiana Grand Casino”.
